Bloom’s Take It’s easy to get lost in the constant release of high-end IEMs and forget the level of performance you can sometimes find at lower price points. UCOTECH RE-2 is the quintessential example with HUGE value at an insane price. We brought RE-2 to CanJam NYC 2023 and were overwhelmed by the community’s response to this $109 IEM from a virtually unknown Korean brand. The RE-2 keeps it simple with a balanced, neutral tuning that doesn’t lose sight of musicality and engagement in its pursuit of accuracy. You get a lifelike, natural sound that absolutely blows away your expectations for the price, and a versatile IEM that makes for a near perfect daily-driver for almost no budget. |
Ucotech, Quality from Korea
Ucotech has been around since 2007 and are known for their amazing earbuds and earphones that are made with passion in Korea. They are known to make quality products, specifically masterfully tuned earphones that are solid built with a well-thought out design.
The RE2 has a matte, anodized gray shell with gold finishings along the faceplate edges. The build is similar to the Ucotech RE-1 Pro, but the RE-2 nozzle has an angled trajectory for a better fit and feels a bit more solid in your hands over the RE-1 Pro.
It’s equipped with a 10mm beryllium plated driver famous for quick transients and sweet, distinct, detailed highs. Beryllium is a costlier material and challenging to work with hence the slightly higher price tag over the RE-1 Pro.
The cable included is a litz silver-plated OCC 4-core and looks superb for the price. It presents as very thin, but don’t let it fool you as it sounds decent and ironically presents with thickness in the sound profile. We had the best listening experience with lower end, non-flagship DAPs and DACs like the iBasso DX170 and Questyle M12.
